For leather and tarpaulins

Two materials, two sets of requirements – we have the right eyelets, rivets and machines for both.

Eyelets and rivets being set into leather

Leather & saddlery

Bell straps, belts, bridles and car seats get rivets, eyelets and snap fasteners that hold permanently – neatly set and durable.

Tarpaulins & covers

Tarpaulins, covers and tent walls need eyelets that don't tear out. Because the base material is rolled in, the eyelets sit firmly – even in wind and under tension.

The K eyelet – holds without a washer

The eyelet for tarpaulins and covers: its claws grip firmly into the fabric – no counter washer is needed.

K-eyelet with prongs

One part instead of two

The K eyelet has fine teeth on its shank, known as claws. During setting they grip into the base material and the fabric is rolled into the flange. This creates a very strong connection – without any washer. The K eyelet grips particularly well in tarpaulin fabrics.

  • No washer needed – fewer parts, faster processing
  • Prongs grip firmly into tarpaulin fabric and covers
  • High tear-out strength by rolling in the base material
  • K-eyelets available up to 40 mm inside diameter
  • Set K-eyelets up to 20 mm inside diameter fully automatically with the NE 52-1K

1. ProngsThe prongs on the shank grip into the base material.
2. FlangeThe fabric is rolled in during setting.
3. Holding forceA combined friction and positive fit prevents tearing out.

From tarpaulins to bell straps

In a tarpaulin workshop, eyelets are set on the fully automatic attaching machine

Eyelets for tarpaulins – fast, clean, tear-resistant

In tarpaulin manufacturing, covers are fitted with brass eyelets on a continuous basis. The fully automatic attaching machine pre-punches the material itself and rolls it in during setting – so the eyelets hold even under tension.

  • Pre-punching and setting in a single operation
  • Foot-pedal activation – both hands guide the tarpaulin
  • For tarpaulins, covers and tent walls

Bell straps with decorative rivets

In the saddlery, straps for bells and cowbells are made by hand. The Mod. 4 AF hand screw press sets the brass decorative rivets cleanly and evenly – rivet by rivet.

Snap fasteners for car seats

At the car upholsterer, seats, door panels and covers are reupholstered. Snap fasteners hold removable covers securely in place, while eyelets are set in series with the fully automatic M11.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Which machine is right for me?

The M11 attaching machine punches the material itself and sets eyelets and washers up to 20 mm inside diameter – also available as a variant for snap fasteners – in leather, rawhide, plastic, fabric and cardboard. The NE 52-1K sets K-eyelets up to 20 mm, the NE 54E-2K eyelets and washers up to 40 mm inside diameter for large tarpaulins. For one-offs and small batches we recommend the T12 or the Mod. 4 AF hand screw press.

Do I need to pre-punch the material?

Not with the fully automatic machines: the M11 punches the material itself, and the NE 52-1K and NE 54E-2K pre-punch automatically. For the T12 and the hand screw press, we will be happy to advise you on the right tool set.

Why do the eyelets hold so well in tarpaulins?

The NE 52-1K and NE 54E-2K attaching machines roll the base material in during setting. This gives the eyelets high tear-out resistance – essential for tarpaulins exposed to wind and tension.

How long does delivery take?

Stock items are generally delivered within 1–3 working days.

For special products and custom versions, the delivery time is usually around 2–4 weeks.

What are K-eyelets?

K-eyelets are one-piece prong eyelets without a washer – for tarpaulins, tents, webbing and technical textiles. Find out more under Eyelets.

Which rivets are suitable for leather goods?

For bell straps, belts and bags, double-cap rivets with a clean finish on both sides are ideal. For thick leather, rivets with a long shank are available. Find out more under Rivets.

Can you test our material in advance?

Yes. Send us your material – we will set samples with the appropriate fastening elements and tools and advise you on the best solution.

Do you offer maintenance and repairs?

Yes. In our in-house workshop, we service and repair machines and tools, and on request also manufacture customised tools. Find out more under Tools & machines.

Can I punch holes and set eyelets without a press?

Yes. With the hollow punch you punch holes with a hammer – round in sizes from Ø 2 to 66 mm or oval for oval eyelets. The hammer-in tool also sets eyelet and washer with a hammer, ideal for one-off pieces, repairs and on-site use.

Find out more under Hollow punches and hammer-in tools.

What do I use to punch webbing and multi-layer material?

For this we recommend the special punching tool with ball. It consists of an upper and lower part, is suitable for webbing, plastic, hard plastic, nylon and multi-layer materials and lasts longer than the hole punch.

Find out more under Special punching tool.

Which decorative rivets are available for straps and leather goods?

Our decorative rivets come in striking shapes – slotted head, diamond, hexagon, pyramid, star and triangle – in antique brass, antique copper, yellow brass and black burnished for a vintage look.

Find out more under Decorative rivets.
