Flat appearance and reliable function thanks to the so-called lip-shaped spring system – for light and medium closing force requirements. Fabric-friendly attachment, even in stretch fabrics or knitwear, thanks to 5-prong fastening. Ideally suited for heavy-duty clothing when using the «stainless steel» version. Harmonious matching to the colour of the fabric when using open prong rings. Fashionable cap designs thanks to colour, design and material variants.
Two variants of the ELEGANT snap fastener
Prong-ring version: The prong ring is used twice – once for the socket and once for the stud.
Rivet version: The prong ring is used only once, for the socket; the stud is attached with the post.

High-quality PBT plastic (polyester, melting temperature 225 °C) with permanent, elastic spring action. Colour-matched to the material, the snap fasteners remain inconspicuous. Temperature- and care-resistant within the textile labelling for synthetic fibres – for workwear, household, leisure and eco/single-material clothing as well as small to medium-sized fabric and leather articles. Standard in col. 9005 black matt and col. 9010 white matt, other RAL colours on request.

The sew-on snap fastener is a two-part fastener made of metal or plastic which – unlike no-sew snap fasteners – is sewn onto textiles the classic way with needle and thread. It consists of a stud (upper part) and a socket (lower part) that snap into each other when pressed together. Large, robust versions are suitable for heavier garments such as coats, small sizes for fine fabrics such as cashmere and wool jumpers.

Both parts are sewn on by hand through the sewing holes – without tools and without a machine.

Which snap fastener suits my material?
STAR is suitable for jackets, children's wear, sportswear and workwear, SUPER for leather, thick fabrics and high closing force, ELEGANT for jersey, knitwear and stretch fabrics. Plastic snap fasteners are metal-free; sew-on snap fasteners are sewn on without tools. We will be happy to advise you personally.
How are snap fasteners set?
STAR, SUPER, ELEGANT and plastic snap fasteners are attached using a suitable setting tool and a press. Sew-on snap fasteners are sewn on with needle and thread. You will find suitable tools and presses under "Tools & machines".
What do T, H and P mean in the dimensions?
T is the diameter, H the height and P – depending on the part – the shank, hole or stud diameter. The graphic «How to read the dimensions» shows this for each system.
How do I read the item number?
The number after the system name indicates the size (e.g. Star 4). This is followed by the part: /1 blind cap or prong ring, /2 to /5 cap, /a socket, /b stud, /c post.
Which colours are available from stock?
The standard colours available from stock are listed for each size. Further colours from our colour chart are available on request, and plastic snap fasteners also in other RAL colours.
How do I specify the colour?
Simply state the colour number from the colour chart in your enquiry, e.g. col. 51 for nickel-plated silver.
Are there nickel-free snap fasteners?
Yes – col. 167 (nickel-free burnished / Metalgun) and col. 60/188 (nickel-free silver) as well as stainless steel (col. Inox). The plastic snap fasteners are metal-free.

Yes – the Aqua versions of Star 4, Super 2 and Super 3 with a sealing washer. Sealing rings are also available under “Other products”.
Are the snap fasteners also available in assortments?
Many parts are included in our basic and supplementary assortments (e.g. 599A, 599AB). Each item indicates which assortment it is included in.
How thick can my material be – and which snap fastener is suitable?
When riveting, at least 2–3 mm of the shank length is needed for flanging. The material should therefore be about 2–3 mm thinner than the shank of the post and cap (e.g. post Super 3/c and cap Super 3/2) – so with a 6 mm shank, up to about 3–4 mm. Leather and fabric give a little when pressed. ELEGANT is suitable for thin fabrics, jersey and knitwear, STAR for jackets and clothing, and SUPER for leather and thick materials. Many parts are available with different shank lengths – you will find the dimensions (H) for each item on this page. We will be happy to advise you.
What plastic are Plastidur snap fasteners made of?
Plastidur snap fasteners (2008 / 2010) are available in polyamide (PA 6.6), polyester (PBT) and polyoxymethylene (POM). Depending on the plastic and version, they are flame-retardant, heat-resistant or waterproof.
How heat-resistant are Plastidur snap fasteners – and can they be dyed?
PA 6.6: melting temperature 250 °C, short-term service temperature 150 °C, bath dyeing possible. PBT: melting temperature 225 °C, short-term service temperature 150 °C, bath dyeing possible. POM: melting temperature 165 °C, short-term service temperature 140 °C, bath dyeing limited. We will be happy to advise you on which plastic suits your application.
Are the snap fasteners suitable for industrial laundering?
Yes. Our snap fasteners are suitable for industrial laundering – the snap fastener itself is not damaged by washing. To ensure it stays securely in the fabric even with frequent wash cycles and heavy use, we recommend, depending on the material, additional fleece reinforcement at the attachment point. This ensures tear-out resistance. We will be happy to advise you on the right version.
